Director Population Health & Wellness

The Director of Wellness is responsible for the creation, administration, management, and budgeting of wellness, claims utilization and population health programs for clients.  The position has minimal managerial oversight and requires self-motivated individual.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities
  • Determines and implements best practices and strategies for maximum ROI of wellness programs.
  • Makes independent decisions and uses his/her own discretion in implementing and managing wellness programs.
  • Creates and manages budgets for client programs based on negotiations with vendors, insurance carriers and clients’ available funds.
  • Interacts with various levels of clients’ hierarchy (including but not limited to CEO, CFO, HR) to explain, educate and outline need for wellness and potential for cost savings through programs.
  • Creates and manages employee wellness committees to educate and steer creation of specific events that will most benefit client (chairing committees whenever possible).
  • Participates in prospect meetings.
  • Formulates personalized, confidential Wellness Surveys based on detailed analysis of client’s culture and mission.
  • In depth analysis of Wellness Survey results to provide aggregate findings to employer.
  • Responsible for FCC’s internal wellness program including budgeting, purchasing, organization and management of programs.
  • Determination of FCC’s internal wellness initiatives with reporting to President and CHRO.
  • Ongoing monitoring of wellness programs and reporting aggregate results to upper management levels of client organization.
  • Constant monitoring of Wellness Field including attendance at seminars and classes to remain abreast of statistics and strategies in the field.
  • Negotiates with various vendors including insurance company, third party administrators and medical facilities to provide services and products to clients and FCC.
  • Manages and creates online challenges for clients

Skills and Abilities

  • Advanced computer skills including, but not limited to, Excel, Power Point, Word, Adobe Pro.
  • Knowledge of wellness theories, statistics, best practices.
  • Designations and certifications in Wellness field.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills in both individual and large group situations.
  • Demonstrate initiative and ability to work independently.
  • Demonstrate flexibility as priorities and deadlines shift, juggle multiple assignments.
  • Ability to work in and contribute to culture of teamwork and cooperation.
  • Ability to manage a diverse group effectively and promote diversity
  • Be accountable for responsibilities of the position, meet deadlines, and live up to commitments.
  • Regular and reliable attendance.
  • Consistent attention to detail and accuracy in all aspects of work.

Education and Experience Requirements 

  • College degree preferred.
  • At least 5 years of wellness program experience preferred.
  • Designations preferred. Must be working towards various industry designations and certifications.
  • Some travel required. Travel normally includes day trips only throughout New England area to various clients, prospects and vendors although occasional overnight travel is sometimes required.
